JIM HARRIOTT
James A. Harriott, P.E. Jim has been practicing structural engineering for more than 20 years. His strength lies in understanding the issues of constructibility and architecture, and integrating the structural design with these demands. Jim is the president of the firm and shares financial and human-resources management duties with Todd.

TODD VALENTINE
Todd has over a decade of experience as a consulting engineer. His experience includes the design of numerous residences and retail structures constructed of wood, steel, masonry, and concrete. Todd manages projects through all phases of design and construction. Todd is also responsible for billing.

KEVIN TSUCHIDA
Having spent the last eight years at Harriott Valentine, Kevin is enthusiastic about seeing a project through all stages of design and construction. He values being able to work in close contact with the architects, contractors, and owners directly - and often personally - invested in the project. When the weather’s nice, Kevin enjoys rock climbing and mountaineering all over the state, but if not he’s somewhere in the city searching for the best gyro.

KATHRYN WARNER
Kathryn has 20-plus years of design and engineering experience with a wide variety of structures, including residential and commercial buildings, as well as architectural signage and ornamentation structural support. Her material experience encompasses wood, steel and aluminum, concrete and masonry materials. Whether a small addition or a large facility, Kathryn works closely with clients and consultants from other disciplines, utilizing her dual architectural and engineering degrees for effective communication from Schematic Design through Construction.

TODD FISHER
After over a decade working as a software developer, Todd has transferred his talents from the technology sector to the construction industry, where he has been practicing structural engineering for the past few years. Upon graduation from the structural engineering master’s program at San Jose State, Todd has relocated to Seattle where he can be found spending his time outside of work hiking and enjoying the sights of the Pacific Northwest.

IAN MCWHIRTER
Ian came to Harriott Valentine while earning his master's degree at UW and continued with the firm after graduation. Ian has been a PNW resident for most of his life, and appreciates how his and his colleagues' work has changed and added to the built environment he grew up around. He has also developed an interest in the field of adaptive reuse, and values learning from and working with the folks that specialize in it. Outside of work he can often be found cooking, baking, or brewing new creations for friends and family.

HenrY nuckles
After earning his master’s degree at the University of Washington, Henry joined Harriott Valentine and has now been with the firm for over three years. He appreciates the coordinated relationships between architecture, construction, and structural design, and how they ultimately work together to contribute to the built environment. With a solid foundation in place, Henry is eager to continue building his expertise in structural engineering.

Being at HVE since 2019, Lexee has enjoyed every aspect of the structural design process, from getting to work on little additions and remodels to full blown brand new mansions. In the residential field, finding out the secrets of a family dwelling floor framing or attempting a new concept an architect proposes always offers a new challenge day to day. When Lexee is not working she spends her day volunteering at a horse rescue, working with horses to help find them future forever homes by preparing them to be good natured citizens. Otherwise she will be riding her own horses, camping with her friends and exploring new places.

TESS pietro
Tess joined the Harriott Valentine team in 2019 after receiving her undergraduate degree from the University of Washington. She enjoys the variety involved with working in residential structures and the unique challenges posed by each project. When not at work, Tess spends her time trying out new recipes in the kitchen and exploring the Seattle culinary scene.

Jacob Wachtendonk
A Washington native, Jacob has enjoyed working for his local community and beyond with Harriott Valentine. He values the relationships he is able to form with contractors and architects throughout the northwest and finds fulfillment in efficient project delivery. Outside of structural engineering, Jacob is passionate about all of the things that make Washington a beautiful place to live whether that be backpacking, flyfishing, or skiing.

LIz Ihrig
Originally from Wisconsin, Liz graduated from UW-Madison with a degree in civil engineering. Curious about earthquake engineering and feeling a draw to the pacific northwest, Liz moved out to Seattle, where she earned her MSCE from UW in 2020. She started working for Harriott Valentine shortly after and enjoys the technical challenges and multi-disciplinary collaboration required to see a project through construction. In her spare time, you can find her outside enjoying the beauty of the PNW, paddle-boarding, biking, and exploring coffee shops.
